For modeling sports games, forecasting results of matches of two teams and betting odds calculation may use methods of mathematical statistics and random variables. Particularly, football and hockey goals well fit Poisson or Severyn distribution (quantity of goals) and Skellam distribution (difference of goals), for baseball - Negative Binomial distribution, for handball and basketball - Normal distribution (quantity and difference of goals/points).
